Our Story
Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. The Caucus of African American Leaders of Anne Arundel County emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2011, we’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of community support. Contact us to learn more and get involved!
The African proverb: If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together. When we unite, we change the world.
Our Mission
The purpose of the CAAL is to fight for the human rights of African-Americans and to create a just society. The CAAL believes in the principle that the rights of women, labor, LGBTQ, environmentalist, and all marginalized groups must be both respected and protected.
The CAAL believes in the beloved community that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his life for and at the same time we believe in Malcolm X assertion:
"We demand our right on this earth to be a human being, to be respected as a human being,to be given the rights of a human being in this society, on this earth, on this day, which we intend to bring into existence by any means necessary".
